Shirley created this leaf in memory of her uncle. She said 'They made the greatest sacriface of all so that we could live as a free nation. My Grandparents lost Uncles and Brothers in the First and Second World Wars. Then in 1943 their 19 year old son, my Uncle John was missing presumed dead when the plane he was in was lost on it's way to Gibraltar. This is the last photo of the crew before they all died. John is the laughing boy in the middle of the back row. War becomes personal when you see the faces of those who gave their lives for us.'
