Tootsie was designed for the  Go Penguins Public Art event with the impact our lifestyles have on our planet in mind.

I used the idea of a carbon footprint. Taking the words literally I designed a pattern based on the patterns found on toeprints. I'm hoping that Tootsie is enjoyed by the public but that he also makes them think about the world around them too.

Splashy the Penguin

Splashy was designed for a competition entry as the ArtinLiverpool penguin for the Go Penguins Public Art event to bring attention to the Liverpool Art scene.

The city has a strong, diverse artistic presence and Liverpool is lucky to have many outlets for its art to be seen and enjoyed, with its galleries, museum, public art and community art. Splashy represents a celebration of Liverpool art with its differently shaped and coloured splashes.  Colours are associated with emotion, memories, places and can help to set a mood. The splashes were designed to resemble real splashes but with more a powerful visual impact and each splash has been painted onto the penguin to produce a strong, fun image.

I have worked with Wild In Art on many of their projects over the last few years. As well as working independently I worked with school children to create their panda James.

I produced Splash Mandeville following on from the success of Splashy the Penguin (see below).

Splash Mandeville was created for Stroll Discovery Trails, an event produced by Wild in Art for the Mayor of London's 'A Summer Like No Other'  festival. The Stroll Discovery Trails event featured over 80 sculptures of Wenlock, the official Olympic mascot and Mandeville, the official Paralympic mascot - on display around London during the summer of 2012.

I designed and painted Gemstones Wenlock to represent various gemstones in an using my individual way of painting.

ROCK 'N' ROLL

Rock legend Liam Gallagher has collaborated with artist Julie Dodd for his bee which fuses her original design with his iconic ROCK 'N' ROLL logo. He put the finishing touches to the design ahead of his storming set at Manchester's Parklife festival. The spiky-looking musical soundwaves create a feeling of chaos and sudden change. Whilst bees' flight paths may look equally random to us, they are actually great navigators.
